Honey Bee Rescue
My 13 year old daughter (being silly as always) decided to rub wisteria on herself to “smell pretty” (all natural perfume idea!) She ended up getting a honey bee on her shoulder during the process! In a panic she swatted it off, stunning the poor thing just enough to make it loopy and unable to fly!
My youngest son, being an animal/insect lover like the rest of us, grabbed a twig, got the bee to climb on it, and brought it to me, telling me the whole story of his sister’s antics. I had to call in the expert, my 18 year old “wasp whisperer!”
He said it didn’t look hurt, just traumatized. To help it get an energy boost, he fed it a small amount of sugar water, which he jokingly said the bee, “sucked it up like a Dr. Pepper!”
Feeling reenergized, the bee became restless, so my “Wasp/Bee Whisperer” took her back outside. He took this rare opportunity to take a few close up pictures of his rescued lady bee!
He handles wasps and bees all the time, he rarely gets stung, but I have my “Wasp and Bee Sting Relief” ready just in case.
He then gently put her back on the wisteria and after cleaning herself a bit…
…she started to wander around in search of the next flower to pollinate!
I love that my kids want so much to help God’s creation. With honey bees on a steady decline, saving this one little lady may be small in comparison but it sure does make my heart smile!
Blessings to you,
Becky
