Baby Goats on the Farm

Baby Goats on the Farm
March 16, 2012

We had been without goats since our last one was killed by our donkey (who now lives elsewhere.) We decided to buy a pair from a homeschool lady we know. These little babies had to be bottle fed but we wanted that because if you bottle feed them then they are much more tame, they think you are momma!

Such sweet little things! We named the girl (left) Cali and the boy (right) Oreo. Cali was born on Purim this year and I had thought about naming her Esther but decided against it.

002

We introduced Kelev to them and he crawled up in their sleeping loft with them and laid down to watch over them. He is such a good dog, but they were not sure about him!

They liked the play ground Stewart built for them with a log to jump off of ….

and even a “Merry Go Round” that Anna was trying to coax them to play on.

010
We all took turns feeding the babies! Cali took to it right away but it took Oreo a little more determination on our part to get him to take the bottle but he finally got the hang of it!

019

The “people” kids would lay down on their tummies and the “goat“ kids loved to jump on their backs and romp around.

023
Anna and Adam decided the goats needed to ride their old toy tractor.

024The goats then had to play “king of the mountain” on it!

028Oreo decided the tractor wasn’t high enough so he advance to the 4-wheeler! Goats will climb just about anything they can! These little guys were such a joy to watch jumping from here to there, running full speed around the yard, playing chase with the children. I sure love having baby goats on the farm. Every child should have “kids” to play with!
