This month was a cold, wet dreary month in Texas.
Not exactly weather you want to get out and do much of anything in!
We took the kids to watch a civil war re-enactment “The Battle of Black Jack Grove” as an “end of study” field trip! It was so muddy and cold but it was still cool to hear and feel the cannons as they fired and we were mesmerized by the cannons smoke rings after being fired! The reenactors did a good job even in such sloppy cold conditions. The mud kept us from walking around the camps much but what we did get to see was neat. We were able to look at the medic tent and get up close to the cannons and watch as they showed how they loaded cannons. We went to sit on the small bleachers they had on a trailer and almost froze because when we left home it wasn’t all that cold but it sure got cold with the winter wind blowing on us for almost an hour. But winter or not, it is always a good day when we get to spend it with all our kids on an outing!
My mother’s birthday… We had bought her a flower to plant in one of her flower beds but I wanted to do something else a little more personal. I decided to paint a family tree for her. The heart is my parents, each branch is one of us three girls and our families and the broken limb with the dove taking flight from it is for my twin brother who was stillborn. The lighter shade of green on the leaves shows the different generations.
We enjoyed having my sister and brother-in-law over to play games (and snack). I usually recluse myself away, so my sister tends to bug me to play games with her till I give in and then, of course, I have a good time.
February was a short wet, cold month and honestly, we didn’t do much but stay inside and keep warm, basic winter activity I suppose.
Peace, love, joy, and blessings,
