I can see a difference with the weight loss on hubby but not myself. It has been a rough week so forgive that I look awful in the picture.

The Day’s Events:

  • Emotions:
    • Stewart: Still excited to get the surgery, he keeps thinking about how he is having to diet now and then after the surgery, he will be having to find proteins to eat.
    • Becky: I get pretty discouraged because I honestly have no idea who to cook foods that are healthy and low calorie that taste decent.

We have been trying to use zucchini as pasta and it just is not working out so great for me. Today we attempted to make “Mexican Spaghetti” with the “zoodles,” Stewart ate it and was ok with it but for me, it had a weird texture and I just couldn’t eat more than a couple bites.

I would much rather do something interactive with the family in the form of exercise than just punish myself on a piece of workout equipment. Today we had fun playing a little badminton and volleyball with the kids!

The Day’s Events:

  • Emotions:
    • Stewart:
    • Becky: Life stresses makes it hard to care about dieting and no motivation to workout. Thankfully by the time you all read this, a personal matter I have been stressing about should be behind me.

Stress makes me make bad food choices like eating my favorite candy, turtle minis, but thankfully my daughter helps by rationing me a serving size at a time.

The Day’s Events: Today we got the call from the nutritionist that we have to meet with before surgery and after juggling a bit with Stewart’s co-workers, we have an appointment June 4th to meet with them. Thankfully it looks like our Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance should cover the visit so YAY hopefully no cost to us! She said just to have the basic info ready like start weight, diet attempts, our last weight, and such ready. I think I will swing by before the appointment and see about getting any paperwork they need so we can have it filled out ahead of time. We like to be prepared and ready to speed things along a bit any time we can!

  • Emotions:
    • Stewart:
    • Becky: Gained back 1 1/2 pounds because I craved that chocolate so that kind of bums me out. I know I have to make better choices but when my stress level is through the roof I just want to eat everything in the house. I think I need to look into another way to help with stress but it is just easier to eat. Hopefully, in a couple days, my stress will be manageable again and I can move forward with my diet and exercise more. Right now I just feel bummed and unmotivated.

  • Emotions:
    • Stewart: I told him we were measuring today he said: “Ugh, but I feel fat today.”
    • Becky: Happy to be losing weight. This week has been a wild horrible ride in our life but this too shall pass and life will adjust and so will we. I have learned if I do not take care of myself first then I am in no position to take care of anyone else so I can not give up on my health goals just because sometimes life beats the crap out of us.

  1. Hey girl!! I know this week has been awful for your family, just know I think about you constantly!! As for finding healthy food that you like, that is so hard if you are picky. As for me, I am pretty strictly low carb. After your surgery you will probably not be able to eat bread at all so it is a good idea to start cutting that out now. Same goes for pasta. It gets kinda gummed up in your stomach sleeve and gets stuck. I do NOT like to try to substitute a vegetable for my favorite foods! I tried a cauliflower crust pizza and it was sooo gross!! lol!! I just eat the toppings off the pizza and that satisfies my cravings. If I get a burger, I get it with no bun. At chic fil a I get the grilled chicken nuggets. I eat a lot of grilled meats and fish. I do not eat low fat anything because most of it has so much sugar added its insane. I am not strict keto because I eat more protein than fat. I try to keep my carbs to a minimum, like <25 grams per day. I slowly cut my carbs down because when I first went low carb I had awful headaches. Doing it in stages is easier for me. I usually have eggs for breakfast, fish or grilled meat with a veggie and some cheese for lunch, salad or lunch leftovers for dinner. And about 40 cups of coffee thrown in!! It is all about better choices. I know for me, it makes me feel better to know that the one thing I can control is what I CHOOSE to put in my mouth. YOU are in control of your life and your health!! We really need to get together one day for lunch or coffee one day!! Maybe when school is out for the summer we can find some time to catch up. Love you always!!

  2. Thank you, Suzi. Yes, we have cut way back on our carbs. I eat a sandwich basically once a day but compared to our usual pasta with every meal and rolls or biscuits, one sandwich is a huge step! I hate eggs and fish. So yeah, it is difficult to find something I will like. I eat a lot of chicken and some beef. I have to say I am getting to where I think, “Eh, I don’t have to like it just eat to stop being hungry and move on.” But some things I just can not force myself to eat or I will gag. Maybe one day this summer we can get together, maybe at Chic-fil-a! (but I still get the fried nuggets 😉 Love you always too! ❤
