Baby Goats on the Farm
Baby Goats on the Farm
March 16, 2012
We had been without goats since our last one was killed by our donkey (who now lives elsewhere.) We decided to buy a pair from a homeschool lady we know. These little babies had to be bottle fed but we wanted that because if you bottle feed them then they are much more tame, they think you are momma!
Such sweet little things! We named the girl (left) Cali and the boy (right) Oreo. Cali was born on Purim this year and I had thought about naming her Esther but decided against it.
Geocaching The Big Thicket

We wanted to go geocaching and Village Creek SP has several caches in it. We also love hiking the Sundew Trail and the Kirby Nature Trail and I wanted to put geocaches in the parks. We decided to make a day of it!
First stop was a park we like in Woodville. We walked around a bit before finding a place to hid a cache. While wandering, we noticed some Leaf Cutter Ants. These guys always make me think of:
Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

Save Our American Raptors

Once again we headed off to Martin Dies Jr. State park for a program. This time it was a special treat. Doris Mager and her birds of prey was at the park today. In 1983, Doris created the non-profit organization, S.O.A.R. Inc, “Save Our American Raptors” to educate children about American Raptors.
She travels with several birds including her beautiful 20+ year old Great Horned Owl “E.T.” which stands for “Extra Terrific.”

Caching During a Drought
Caching During a Drought

As with any tradition, it begins as an action repeated until it becomes expected. And so it seems picnics have become a tradition anytime we go caching.
We had a cache to find in this road side park but I didn’t even look at where it was suppose to be until we had all eaten. If they had been distracted they would have never finished their lunch! By Yahweh’s grace we had parked at the table that was closest to the cache!
