Monterey Park
March 7,2011
Monterey Park was one of the earliest memories of camping I have. It has changed so much in thirty years. Now it is pretty much just a boat ramp but back when I was little it had camping loops.
We decided to go for a walk to see what I could remember about it.
This road was closed long ago so people would not camp down this loop anymore. I remember riding my bicycle down it with my sisters.

The Eagle!
March 3, 2011
We went to the lake to fly a kite. We drove around a bit to find a good private spot without campers. People were everywhere because it was spring break weekend. I was just about ready to give up, totally frustrated when, against my “better” judgment, Stewart decided to take this little “pig trail” of a road. It looked more like a four-wheeler trail but the Tahoe fit down it so he took it. We ended up at a good private location with a nice sandy beach. As soon as we got out of the car, “Hunny look! An eagle!” Stewart calls out. Sure enough a beautiful eagle landed at the shore where we were. Such a rare and awesome treat GOD blessed us with. Immediately scriptures start flooding my head with references to eagles.

Old Aldridge Mill Site
February 26, 2011
The name Old Aldridge has been a name that was basically synonymous with the idea of Halloween, haunted houses, and satanic rituals here in Zavalla. I am pretty sure most of it is just ghost stories but I am sure some evil has been done down in the old remains of the saw mill. Whatever the case is, the idea of it all has kept me far from it all my thirty years of living in the small town of Zavalla. That is until today.
We had just finished our Scripture Scavenger Hunt Hike and decided to go have a look at Old Aldridge.
As we walked up to the old mill the huge structures loomed in the distance, visually living up to the idea of ghost town. CONTINUE READING…

Scripture Scavenger Hunt Hike
February 26, 2011
We have been trying to find things to do on the Sabbath that is helpful to keep our life centered around things that give glory to GOD and also for it to be a delight. I believe that we are to keep the Friday to Saturday Sabbath and that if we can do what it says in the following scripture then we will receive the blessing that the Lord promised in that scripture “for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isa 58:13-14 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
We can not think of anything more delightful than hiking and being out in the awesome creation that GOD made for us to enjoy and take care of. We had invited my mom and sister and her kids to come with us on our hike so I wanted to look for something that would help keep it a little more Bible based and maybe help get the kids focused on seeing GOD in nature as we do.
I found on the internet a sight that suggested to have a Scripture Scavenger Hunt. I took a few minutes to adapt it with scriptures of common things we could find on a hike and we were ready.
We all load up into the car and head out to Boykin Springs Lake.
We get our stuff together and begin our hike. CONTINUE READING…

Ratcliff Tall Pines Trail
February 22, 2011
Tall Pines Trail at Ratcliff is said to be only a mile and half, I swear it is the longest mile and a half I have ever walked. It may have more to do with the fact that I was sore from working on the flower bed the day before, squatting down to plant cactus is something my muscles are not used to.
As we headed out Adam watched the signs closely making sure we did not venture off on the 4C hiking trail that is 20 miles long. CONTINUE READING…
