“Free Fishing Day” Fun

It was the official “Free Fishing Day” in Texas and we were determined to get in on some of that action.

It took us a while to find a nice quiet place to try to get our hooks wet. We drove around for an hour, the places that weren’t already packed, were flooded by the recent abundance of rain Texas has received.

Our “let’s look one last place” turned out to be the impassable road leading to our favorite camping spot.

We had only planned to perch fish anyway, so this place was as good as any for that! And the best part, there were no other folks trying to crowd in on the action. Thank God, because the five of us crowding in to fish down a one lane road was bad enough!

To Homeschool Through Summer or Not

To Homeschool Through Summer or Not… that is the question.

We figured biking to it to check it out would be a lot faster and on bikes we could go a lot farther than on foot…

Hiking “Dead Roads”

The other day, out riding around and hiking in the national forest, we came across a series of “dead roads.” I was excited that we found new places to hike close to home! We looked at the map and started plotting where all these “dead roads” might lead and how we could walk for miles through forest by just following along these old roads that were no longer in use!

“Flip a Coin” Road Trip (and Roll the Dice)

With all the heavy rains the last couple weeks here in Deep East Texas, we decided hiking this weekend, was probably not a great idea. We couldn’t think of any trails that would be accessible and not a muddy mucky mess! So we decided to go for a drive!

Flip a coin Road Trip

As always, the question arises, “Where do you want to go?” The solution was easy… flip a coin!
